One problem I have had when practicing my Hunter Field Target shooting is making sure I practice realistically. I only have one knock down target so don’t have the luxury of laying out a full time practice course. What I do is leave the target in the same location and move myself to the new peg location. I have markers set out every 5 yards from the target and simply move myself to the required range. Obvious I know, but it is only half of the problem. What about the stance? I don’t know about you but I have a tendency to ‘practice’ the shots I can do well rather than the ones I really need to practice. To make it more interesting and varied I have created a simple spreadsheet that creates a HFT score card with random ranges and random shooting positions. The ranges and positions will be different every time you open the sheet. We sometimes hold garden HFT shoot offs and I simply print out a few copy of the same sheet and we all take turns on the ‘lanes’.
